Chicago, 1991 ( a poem & Art)

There once was a city–

and my love we dwelled it well

imbibed on our callings, our failings, our fallings

and her night lights

guided us home.

We loved her dirty, her shadows and riches

and we came for her

and she came for us.

There once was a city–

now distant as a Saturday night

and vacant as an angel’s flight.

We travel southbound now.
